Passing the baton

The Aussies from Adelaide came again from 14th to 30th September 2012, staying again at the City Bayview for the 10th year.

This year, I got wiser. I roped in one of the young planning lecturers, who technically is also by (small) boss (since he is Chairman of the Planning Programme) to take charge of this project from the USM side. Hopefully, he and others will continue this journey for another ten years.

Have we become better at it? Or are the students getting better at doing the field school? It all depends on what criteria you want to use. I prefer not to compare. Because it takes away the uniqueness of each batch of students and their unexpected turns and surprises that each student should take back with them.

Just for the record, these are some pictures from their final presentation at the School of HBP on the 29th September 2012.

We start with Matthew Rofe. This year he is taking sabbatical at HBP and not involved with the field school, except to snap pictures.

Rowena, standing took over this year. Hans with the pony-tail accompanying. Next to him is Azizan Marzuki taking over from me.

Hassim Mat still participated even though he is no longer with Masters Planning Studio. The Aussies kept hinting they love and miss his rice but he was too busy to cook this year. There was also some hinting about duck! Michael Ong and Cheng Hui Lin from MIP Northern Branch showed up for the presentation. Also in the picture is Ghani Salleh who says he's sticking around for one more year.

I stole some photos from Rasyidah Izan's facebook album.

Love my hair!
