Yes, a long coil of reinforced plastic garden hose will do the job. OK not for the plumbing in your body but your kitchen sink.
It needs to be stiff enough to push through the obstructions in the pipe but flexible enough to bend and turn corners.
The sign of clogged pipe? The water stays in your sink and won't drain out.
What causes it? Too much fat in your diet. When you wash your dishes and pots and pans, the oil will stick to the pipe and slowly coagulate or harden. Eventually, it clogs up the pipe. Just like the real thing in your body.
How to clear the pipe? Find the nearest man-hole to your sink. Open up the cover, figure out which of the pipe outlets leads to the sink. Stick one end of the garden hose in. Push the pipe in as far as it can go. Push and pull the pipe to dislodge the sludge. Connect the other end of the hose to the tap and turn on the water. Keep pushing and pulling the hose. Pull the hose all the way out to bring out the stubborn sludge. Keep doing this until the sink drains normally.
There. That's how to clear a clogged artery.
